DIsturbing is an Understatement!
A few weeks ago, I read a story in the Gay Peoples Chronicle about a young man (16 yrs old) who came out to his parents and was being sent away to a camp which specializes in and I quote "Reforming People and Making them NOT Gay!" (my personal belive and studies would tend to agree...that this practice is just what it sounds like...BULLSHIT!).
However, I never did (until now) get a chance to google it..and find this kids myspace weblog, which detailed the rules of this place "LIA=Love in Action". I have to admit...I have tears streaming down my face at this point...I can not even begin to think what kind of crap this poor kid is going through...and at the hands of the people who should love him unconditionally no matter what ....Un- Fucking Real !!
If I didnt think so before...I sure do now......this world (esp the USA) has some Truly Fuck Up People roaming around who are so fucked in the head that they belive that they can put someone through a big sack of bullshit...terror and abuse...and POOF...they will no longer be gay....what the hell.....im just beside myself with this whole story!

AJ, your response, with the tears streaming down, actually gives me hope. My hope is that people all over the US will hear this story and react the same way. My hope is that straight middle aged moms and dads and teachers and pastors and politicians as well as other teens will hear this story and it will break their hearts. Then they will put their feet down and do something, anything, to make this right for Zach and the thousands of other Zachs who became trapped as teens in a life of lies and shame.
We can only hope and pray that people will wake up and understand that this problem is widespread. I hope and pray that Zach and others like him, at least keep their heads up and understand that they are not demons who should be put in places like this. Those of us who are now living our gay life can help these kids in the future. and now....because they will need folks to talk to who are positive gay roll models.
